Quantity Surveyor – Civil / Earthmoving

Elevate Talent is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor for a Christchurch based civil contractor.

We’re looking for someone with a strong civil or earthmoving background who can manage projects from the early pricing stages right through to completion.

The role

You’ll work closely with Project Managers and site teams across civil and earthmoving projects.

Day to day, you’ll be responsible for:

• Completing quantity take-offs from plans and specifications
• Preparing estimates, tenders and pricing
• Preparing project budgets and forecasts
• Tracking project costs
• Managing variations and claims
• Progress claims and payments
• Subcontractor and supplier procurement
• Contract administration
• Commercial reporting
• Final accounts and project close-out
• Working closely with Project Managers throughout delivery

What we’re looking for

You’ll need solid Quantity Surveying experience within civil construction or earthmoving.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• Senior level QS experience
• Civil construction and/or earthmoving experience
• Strong take-off, estimating and tendering skills
• Experience across earthworks, drainage, roading or infrastructure projects
• Experience managing variations and claims
• Good knowledge of NZ construction contracts
• A practical understanding of civil projects and how they operate on site
• Confidence dealing with clients, subcontractors and suppliers

This role won’t suit someone whose experience has been solely in commercial or residential building. Civil or earthmoving experience is a must.
