Quantity Surveyor

Our client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their team!

Based in Petaling Jaya with exposure to diverse projects across Malaysia, this role offers the chance to build deep expertise in contract administration, claims management, and commercial delivery within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

What you'll be doing?

• Claims Management — Prepare, evaluate, and manage progress claims, remeasurements, variation works, and other quantity surveying-related tasks to ensure accurate and timely commercial reporting.
• Stakeholder Liaison — Liaise with clients, main contractors, consultants, and subcontractors to process, negotiate, and resolve progress claims efficiently and professionally.
• Variation Order Administration — Prepare, review, evaluate, and administer variation orders (VOs), ensuring all variations are thoroughly documented and incorporated into interim and final claims.
• Final Account Management — Prepare, negotiate, and finalise project final accounts, including the full settlement of project costs and contractual claims.
• Project Lifecycle Monitoring — Monitor and review the entire project lifecycle from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to all contractual and commercial requirements.
• Post-Project Review — Conduct post-project evaluations to capture lessons learned and identify meaningful opportunities for process improvement.
• Dispute & Claims Support — Assist in the preparation, assessment, and settlement of construction disputes, loss and expense claims, and other contractual matters.
• Documentation & Correspondence — Prepare professional letters, reports, contractual correspondence, and project documentation to a high standard.
• Site Involvement — Attend site valuations, conduct site measurements and inspections, and participate in project meetings as required.
• Records Management — Organise, maintain, and manage all project documentation including contracts, budgets, bills of quantities (BQ), and related records to ensure accurate filing and easy retrieval.
• Project Coordination — Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, site teams, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
• Ad Hoc Responsibilities — Support management with additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, contributing positively to the wider team.

Who are they looking for?

• Relevant Academic Background — A Diploma in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification provides a strong foundation for success in this role.
• Quantity Surveying Experience — Candidates with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the construction industry are encouraged to apply.
• Pre & Post Contract Exposure — Hands-on experience in quantity surveying and cost management services across both pre-contract and post-contract stages is essential to performing well in this position.
• Infrastructure Experience — Prior experience in Quantity Surveying for Infrastructure Development projects would be a valuable advantage, though it is not a strict requirement.
• Language Proficiency — Strong communication skills in English, Malay and Chinese are required to effectively engage with local clients, contractors, and project teams.
• Drawing Comprehension — The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical documents accurately is important for carrying out site measurements and quantity assessments.
• Travel Flexibility — A willingness to travel occasionally to the Johor office or other project sites across Malaysia is appreciated, as project needs may require periodic on-site presence beyond the primary Petaling Jaya base.
• Communication & Interpersonal Skills — Strong written and verbal communication skills are key, as this role involves regular engagement with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
