About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join SPACE UP DESIGN SDN. BHD. in Alor Setar, Kedah. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our construction projects whilst managing contracts, costs and project delivery with precision and professionalism. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards. You will be responsible for cost management, contract administration and providing commercial advice to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. This role is integral to the success of our construction operations and offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on our business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities and tender documentation for construction projects
• Managing project budgets and monitoring expenditure to ensure costs remain within approved parameters
• Administering contracts and managing contractual relationships between the company, clients, contractors and subcontractors
• Conducting site inspections and measurements to verify work completed and assess variations to contracts
• Preparing and processing claims, variations and change orders in accordance with contract terms
• Liaising with project managers, architects and engineers to ensure commercial and contractual alignment
• Maintaining detailed records and documentation of all project costs, variations and contract amendments
• Providing commercial advice and cost consultancy to support project decision-making
• Preparing final accounts and resolving disputes relating to contract payments and claims
• Ensuring compliance with relevant construction industry standards and procurement regulations

What we're looking for

• Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent, with recognised credentials from a relevant professional body
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry
• Strong knowledge of contract management, including experience with standard form contracts such as PAM, CIDB or equivalent
• Proficiency in cost estimation, budgeting and financial management for construction projects
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quantity surveying software packages
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders
• Knowledge of Malaysian construction industry practices and regulations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
