Quantity Surveyor

About the role

This role involves handling full Quantity Surveying (QS) functions for building and Electrical & Mechanical (E&M) works, including cost estimation, measurement, tender preparation and pricing for electrical and MEP packages. You will prepare and review Bills of Quantities for electrical, ELV, lighting, power distribution and other building services installations based on drawings and specifications.

What You'll Be Doing

• Handle full QS functions for building and E&M works, including cost estimation, measurement, tender preparation and pricing for electrical / MEP packages
• Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BQ/BOQ) for electrical, ELV, lighting, power distribution and other building services installations based on drawings and specifications
• Administer main contracts and subcontracts: valuation of variations, progress payments, final accounts, and Extension of Time (EOT) assessments in line with company procedures
• Monitor project cost, cash flow and budget, provide cost forecasts and support value engineering proposals for MEP systems
• Evaluate and negotiate quotations and claims from subcontractors and suppliers for electrical and MEP trades to ensure technical and commercial compliance
• Coordinate with project managers, site teams, design consultants and clients to resolve contractual and measurement issues and support timely project delivery
• Assist in procurement activities for MEP packages, including tender enquiries, bid evaluation and contract award recommendations
• Prepare regular cost and progress reports, and maintain accurate measurement and cost records for internal and client reporting
• Attend site meetings and inspections when required to verify measurements, check installation status and support claims certification

What We're Looking For

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Building Studies, Electrical / Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or related discipline
• Minimum 7–10+ years QS experience with main contractors or QS consultancies; solid exposure to electrical / MEP works in building or infrastructure projects
• Good technical understanding of electrical and building services systems (e.g. power distribution, lighting, ELV, BMS, fire services, MV/LV cabling)
• Familiar with standard forms of construction contracts and common QS practice in Hong Kong; experience in variation, claims and final account handling is preferred
• Proficient in MS Excel and QS / cost control software; experience with AutoCAD / BIM drawings for measurement is an advantage
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills, with high attention to detail and good commercial awareness
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team under tight deadlines
• Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese; Cantonese speaking is required for site and subcontractor coordination
• Membership or probationer status with HKIS / RICS or other relevant professional bodies will be an advantage
