About the role

We are seeking a talented Quantity Surveyor to join HOMA ENGINEERING (M) SDN BHD in Penang Island, Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our construction projects. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing project costs, procurement, and contractual matters throughout the project lifecycle. This position is integral to ensuring our projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing accurate cost estimates and bills of quantities for construction projects
• Managing project budgets and monitoring expenditure to ensure cost control
• Conducting site inspections and measurements to verify work progress and quality
• Negotiating with suppliers and contractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services
• Preparing contract documents and tender specifications
• Processing and validating interim payment certificates and final accounts
• Maintaining detailed records of all project costs, variations, and claims
• Liaising with project managers, architects, engineers and clients to resolve cost-related issues
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality
• Providing financial reporting and analysis to senior management

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Professional qualification such as AIQS, RICS or equivalent body recognised in Malaysia
• Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry
• Strong knowledge of construction practices, materials, and methodologies
• Proficiency in cost estimation and project financial management
• Excellent understanding of contract administration and procurement procedures
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and quantity surveying software
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) is advantageous
• Able Communicate with Mandarin, Malay and English. We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.
