About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join DJS Interior Sdn Bhd in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur on a full-time basis. This is a strategic position within our construction and surveying operations, where you will play a crucial role in managing project costs, budgets, and financial controls. As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for ensuring the financial viability and cost efficiency of our interior construction projects from inception through to completion. This role is integral to our project success and directly impacts our profitability and client satisfaction.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing and managing detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for construction projects
• Conducting thorough cost analysis and value engineering to optimise project expenditure without compromising quality
• Preparing and managing bills of quantities for tender purposes and contract documentation
• Monitoring project costs throughout all phases and providing regular financial reports to project managers and senior management
• Conducting quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings and specifications
• Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and favourable terms
• Reviewing and analysing contractor claims and variations to determine validity and financial impact
• Maintaining comprehensive cost records and project documentation in accordance with professional standards
• Liaising with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to resolve cost-related issues and ensure project alignment
• Advising on contract matters, payment schedules, and financial risk mitigation strategies

What we're looking for

• Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or relevant construction-related discipline
• Membership with a recognised professional body such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or AIQS (Association of Investment and Quantity Surveyors) or equivalent Malaysian qualification
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry
• Proven expertise in cost estimation, budget management, and financial control on construction projects
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement practices, and contract administration
• Proficiency in quantity surveying software and building information modelling (BIM) tools
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for financial modelling
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
• Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities with the capacity to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Experience in interior fit-out or commercial construction projects is highly desirable
• Knowledge of Malaysian construction standards, regulations, and industry practices
