About the Company

Desertman Transporting and Contracting LLC is an Abu Dhabi-based company engaged in transportation and contracting activities. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team and support the commercial and quantity surveying activities of our projects.

Job Summary

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for quantity measurement, BOQ preparation, cost estimation, project cost control, valuations, variations, subcontractor payments, and supporting the commercial management of construction and contracting projects.

The ideal candidate should have practical experience in civil construction, infrastructure, transportation, or general contracting, with good knowledge of UAE construction practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and project documents.
• Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and cost estimates.
• Measure quantities of completed works at site and maintain accurate measurement records.
• Assist in preparing tender documents, quotations, and rate analysis.
• Monitor project costs and assist with cost control.
• Prepare and submit interim payment applications and valuations.
• Check and verify subcontractor and supplier measurements and invoices.
• Assist in evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Prepare and track variation orders and additional works.
• Assist with preparation and evaluation of claims.
• Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and scope of works.
• Maintain records of quantities, costs, variations, payments, and project documentation.
• Assist in preparing monthly cost reports and project financial updates.
• Coordinate with site engineers, project managers, procurement, finance, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Assist with subcontractor accounts and final account preparation.
• Conduct site visits and verify completed works.
• Assist management in identifying cost-saving opportunities and commercial risks.
• Ensure all quantity surveying activities are completed accurately and within project deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 3–6 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying or a similar role.
• UAE/GCC construction experience is preferred.
• Experience in civil construction, infrastructure, transportation, earthworks, road works, or general contracting is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of BOQ preparation, quantity measurement, estimation, and cost control.
• Experience with valuations, variations, subcontractor measurements, and payment applications.
• Basic understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
• Knowledge of quantity surveying, estimation, or ERP software is an advantage.
• Good numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
• Candidates currently available in the UAE are preferred.
• Candidates who can join immediately or within a short notice period will be preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be a practical and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor who is comfortable working between the site and office.

Candidates with experience in UAE contracting companies, civil works, road works, earthworks, transportation projects, or infrastructure projects will have an advantage.
