What they need
Quantity Surveyor – Construction
Bristol, UK (Site Based)
Your new company
We are working with a highly established specialist construction and engineering business delivering complex projects across the defence, energy and data sectors .
With more than four decades of industry experience, they have built a reputation for delivering technically challenging projects where quality, commercial control and specialist expertise really matter. Their portfolio spans major refurbishments, installations, new-build facilities and secure, highly regulated environments.
As their project portfolio continues to grow, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team with an experienced Quantity Surveyor in Bristol.
Your new role
You will join the commercial team working on high-value, technically complex construction projects, taking ownership of the commercial and contractual performance of your projects from procurement through to final account.
Working closely with project leadership, site teams, clients and the supply chain, you will have a genuine influence on project outcomes — protecting margins, maximising value and ensuring projects are commercially successful.
You will:
- Lead the commercial management of projects, including cost, value, cash flow and forecasting.
- Manage subcontractor procurement, accounts, payments, variations and final accounts.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and drive effective mitigation.
- Manage change, claims and the recovery of contractual entitlements.
- Produce accurate commercial reporting and cost/value reconciliations.
- Work closely with site and project teams to maximise value and control costs.
- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
What you'll need to succeed
- HNC, HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable site-based experience within building or construction.
- Good understanding of procurement and main/subcontract forms.
- Strong knowledge of commercial management, cost/value reporting and forecasting.
- Working understanding of construction contracts and contractual principles.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, commercially minded approach with the confidence to take ownership.
- RICS, CIOB or equivalent membership (or working towards it) is advantageous.
