About the role

Grand Nation Builder Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic project management team. This is a full-time position based in Menggatal, Sabah, where you will play a crucial role in managing costs, budgets, and procurement activities across our construction projects. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. This role is integral to our project success, providing essential support to project managers and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and managing detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for construction projects
• Conducting procurement activities, including tender documentation, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiations
• Monitoring project expenditure and providing regular cost reports to project management and senior leadership
• Preparing variation orders and managing cost changes throughout the project lifecycle
• Conducting site inspections and measurements to verify work completed and materials used
• Maintaining accurate records of contracts, purchase orders, and invoices
• Liaising with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure cost control and project efficiency
• Preparing final account documentation and settling contractor claims
• Providing quantity surveying advice and recommendations to support project decision-making
• Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements

What we're looking for

• Professional qualification as a Quantity Surveyor or equivalent (e.g., Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or related field)
• Professional membership with a recognized body such as ASQS, RISM or equivalent is preferred
• Minimum 2-4 years of professional experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry
• Strong knowledge of cost estimation, budgeting, procurement, and contract management
• Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail
• Strong communication and negotiation skills to work effectively with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
• Sound understanding of construction methodologies, building codes, and industry practices
• Problem-solving ability and commercial acumen to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Willingness to conduct site visits and inspections as required
