QUANTITY SURVEYOR

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Cheng Hoon Air Cond Engineering Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Butterworth, Penang. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the construction and estimating process, ensuring accurate cost assessments, project budgeting, and financial control throughout the project lifecycle. This position is integral to our operations, directly impacting project profitability and client satisfaction in the air conditioning engineering and construction sector.

What you'll be doing

1. Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and bills of quantities from architectural and engineering drawings
2. Develop accurate cost estimates for construction projects, labour, materials, and equipment
3. Conduct site measurements and surveys to assess project scope and requirements
4. Analyse tender documents and specifications to ensure comprehensive cost assessments
5. Monitor and track project costs throughout the construction phase to ensure adherence to budgets
6. Prepare variation orders and change order assessments when project scope modifications occur
7. Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and project managers to obtain quotations and clarify specifications
8. Maintain detailed cost records and documentation for audit and reference purposes
9. Support the tendering process by providing cost analyses and competitive pricing recommendations
10. Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions to enhance project value

What we're looking for

1. Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
2. Professional qualification or registration with relevant quantity surveying bodies (preferred)
3. Minimum 1-2 years of professional experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry
4. Strong proficiency with quantity surveying software and tools (e.g., MasterFormat, Planswift, or similar)
5. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data analysis and cost modelling
6. In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards
7. Excellent mathematical and analytical abilities with high attention to detail
8. Strong communication and negotiation skills to interact effectively with stakeholders
9. Experience in air conditioning, mechanical, or HVAC projects is highly advantageous
10. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
11. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
