About the role

Budi Pelangi sdn bhd is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team in the Papar District, Sabah. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our construction operations. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing project costs, preparing accurate estimates, and ensuring financial viability throughout all stages of construction projects. This role is integral to our success, bridging the gap between design, execution, and financial management whilst ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects at tender and pre-tender stages
• Analyse project specifications, drawings, and documentation to determine quantities of materials and labour required
• Conduct site surveys and measurements to gather accurate data for estimating purposes
• Monitor project costs throughout construction, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions
• Manage valuations and interim payment applications for contractors and clients
• Prepare quantity schedules, bill of quantities, and cost breakdowns
• Negotiate with suppliers and contractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all cost-related information
• Provide cost advice to project managers and senior stakeholders to support decision-making
• Assist in tender evaluation and contract administration processes

What we're looking for

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline from an accredited institution
• Professional qualification or membership with a recognised quantity surveying body (e.g., RICS, AIQS, or equivalent)
• Minimum 3–5 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry
• Strong knowledge of estimating methodologies, cost analysis, and construction contracts
• Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
• Strong communication and negotiation skills to liaise effectively with contractors, clients, and suppliers
• Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines
• Knowledge of Malaysian construction standards and building regulations is advantageous
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
