What they need

Quantity Surveyor – France

Join an award-winning international construction specialist delivering complex, high-value workspaces and technical environments, including major data centre and pharmaceutical projects.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing team and support the commercial delivery of major construction projects across France, with potential involvement across Europe as the business continues to expand. You'll work closely with project teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers, taking ownership of project costs, contractual matters, variations and commercial reporting.

The role would suit someone with a strong technical construction background who enjoys being close to project delivery, is confident negotiating commercial matters and can adapt to a fast-moving environment where processes and project requirements continue to evolve.

Key Responsibilities – Quantity Surveyor

  • Manage the commercial and surveying functions across assigned construction projects.
  • Prepare, manage and regularly update project budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
  • Price and reprice works, assess variations and manage change orders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review, administer and manage contractual obligations, records and project documentation.
  • Prepare monthly commercial reports, including JCRs and JCSs, alongside cash flow and cost reporting.
  • Identify commercial risks and contribute to the development and implementation of risk management plans.
  • Support procurement activities, including subcontractor and material orders.
  • Negotiate with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to protect project commercial interests.
  • Attend project handover meetings and regular contract review meetings.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, supply chain partners and the wider project team.
  • Support the commercial delivery of major projects across France, with flexibility to assist with projects in Italy as required.

Key Skills & Experience – Quantity Surveyor

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, ideally working for a main contractor or specialist construction contractor.
  • Strong technical understanding of construction methods, technologies and project delivery.
  • Experience pricing works, managing variations and change orders, and negotiating with clients and subcontractors.
  • Good understanding of construction contracts, contractual obligations and commercial risk management.
  • Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, cash flow reports and other commercial documentation.
  • Knowledge of subcontractor procurement, material orders, measurement and valuation.
  • Strong French-language skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with site teams and local stakeholders.
  • Good English-language skills for internal reporting, processes and communication across the wider business.
  • Strong commercial awareness, analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to build effective relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Adaptable, proactive and comfortable working within a fast-paced environment with evolving processes and requirements.
  • Flexibility to support projects across France, with potential involvement in Italy as the business expands.

Experience working on large-scale data centre, pharmaceutical or other technically complex construction projects would be advantageous. Experience with projects valued between €5m and €10m would also be relevant, alongside exposure to larger, multi-package construction programmes.
