Quantity Surveyor

About the role

ARM Perunding Sdn Bhd is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team in Shah Alam, Selangor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our construction and estimating operations. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing project costs, preparing accurate estimates, and ensuring projects remain within budget whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality. This role is instrumental in supporting our clients' projects from inception through to completion, providing expert financial and commercial guidance throughout the construction lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for construction projects
• Conducting site visits and measurements to gather accurate project data
• Analysing tender documents and specifications to support cost estimations
• Managing project budgets and monitoring expenditure against approved estimates
• Preparing variation orders and interim valuations for ongoing projects
• Liaising with contractors, clients, and consultants to clarify project requirements and resolve cost-related issues
• Maintaining accurate project records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes
• Providing cost advice and recommendations to optimise project value and efficiency
• Assisting with tender evaluations and contract negotiations
• Staying updated with industry standards, material costs, and market trends

What we're looking for

• Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent (such as a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering)
• Recognised professional membership or registration with a relevant body
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in quantity surveying or construction estimating
• Strong proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
• Knowledge of Malaysian construction standards, regulations, and industry practices is highly desirable
• Proficiency in BIM software or other advanced construction technology tools would be advantageous
