About the Company

We are working with an established construction contractor looking to strengthen its London commercial team with the appointment of an experienced Quantity Surveyor.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business delivering technically challenging projects across London, specialising in demolition, enabling works, basement construction and reinforced concrete (RC) frames.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the commercial management of multiple construction projects, typically overseeing approximately three live schemes simultaneously.

Projects range from £10m to £50m+, with responsibility for valuations, cost reporting, subcontractor management, financial forecasting, variations and final accounts.

Working closely with site delivery teams and senior commercial management, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered successfully from a commercial perspective.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial delivery of approximately three live construction projects simultaneously.
• Oversee subcontractor procurement, tender evaluation, negotiation and package management.
• Prepare and manage valuations, variations and change control.
• Produce accurate Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), financial forecasts and commercial reports.
• Monitor project budgets, cash flow and overall financial performance.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, payments and final account negotiations.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work closely with project managers, site teams and clients to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure contractual compliance.
• Support senior commercial management with project reporting and financial updates.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor or specialist subcontractor environment.
• Demonstrable experience managing the commercial aspects of multiple construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement, cost management and commercial reporting.
• Experience preparing CVRs, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing commercial priorities.
• Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to identify and manage project risks.
• Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management is desirable.

Desirable Experience

• Major demolition and enabling works.
• Reinforced concrete frames and structural alterations.
• Basement construction, including top-down and bottom-up methodologies.
• Groundworks and complex structural packages.
• Commercial management of projects or packages valued between £10m and £50m+.
• Experience working for a specialist groundworks/RC frame contractor or a main contractor managing significant structural packages.
