Quantity Surveyor

About the role

An established commercial construction company is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Bay of Plenty team. This is an opportunity for a commercially focused QS to take ownership of project financial performance, manage key contractual relationships and contribute to the successful delivery of commercial building projects. You'll work closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors and clients to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, profitably and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project budgets, cost reporting, forecasting and cashflow.
• Oversee procurement, tender evaluations and subcontractor agreements.
• Administer construction contracts, including NZS 3910.
• Assess and negotiate variations, progress claims and final accounts.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
• Provide commercial advice to project managers and senior management.
• Ensure accurate financial reporting and contract compliance.

About you

• 10+ years' experience in quantity surveying within commercial construction.
• Strong experience working with a main commercial building contractor.
• Sound knowledge of NZS 3910 and New Zealand construction contract administration.
• Proven ability to manage project budgets, procurement, variations and final accounts.
• Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing project priorities.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand.
