Quantity Surveyor Intern

Job Summary:

MSR Green Energy, a dynamic leader in Malaysia’s RE sector, is committed to powering the future through sustainable, innovative solutions across LSS, BESS, and other green energy technologies. We are seeking two (2) motivated Quantity Surveyor Interns to support our Project Delivery and commercial teams across a range of RE projects.

The successful candidates will gain practical exposure to both M&E and C&S works, including cost estimation, tendering, procurement support, progress claims, variation tracking, and general contract administration. This internship offers an opportunity to develop hands-on commercial and quantity surveying experience within the fast-growing renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, bills of quantities, and cost plans for M&E and C&S works
• Support the preparation and issuance of RFQs to suppliers and subcontractors
• Assist in the evaluation and comparison of quotations, tender submissions, and commercial proposals
• Support quantity take-offs and measurements based on drawings, specifications, and site information
• Assist in reviewing M&E and C&S drawings and specifications for costing and procurement purposes
• Support the preparation and tracking of purchase orders, subcontract packages, and procurement documentation
• Assist in monitoring project costs, commitments, variations, and change orders
• Support the verification of subcontractor progress claims, invoices, and supporting documentation
• Assist in preparing monthly cost reports, cost trackers, variation registers, and other commercial records
• Support the preparation of project claims, final accounts, and commercial documentation where required
• Liaise with project engineers, site teams, procurement personnel, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain relevant technical and commercial information
• Assist with document control and maintenance of commercial records, including quotations, contracts, claims, variation orders, and payment records
• Participate in site visits, measurements, progress assessments, and project meetings where required
• Undertake general quantity surveying and commercial support duties as assigned

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying
• Basic understanding of quantity surveying, cost management, procurement, or contract administration principles
• Interest in gaining exposure to both M&E and C&S works
• Basic ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and BQs
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or other construction-related software would be an advantage
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to learn and work collaboratively with project, engineering, procurement, and site teams
• Ability to work independently when required and manage multiple tasks within agreed timelines
• Interest in renewable energy, infrastructure, construction, or engineering projects would be an advantage
