ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly analytical and results-driven Quantity Surveyor to oversee project estimation, quantity take-offs, cost monitoring, project planning, and progress control for construction and infrastructure projects.

The Quantity Surveyor plays a critical role in ensuring projects remain within budget and on schedule by preparing accurate cost estimates, developing project schedules, monitoring project performance, and providing technical drawing and 3D modeling support. This position is ideal for an engineering professional with strong expertise in cost management, project planning methodologies, technical drawing interpretation, and project controls.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Cost Estimation and Quantity Surveying

• Prepare detailed project cost estimates based on engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements

• Perform quantity take-offs for civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical works as applicable

• Review estimates for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements

• Assist in budget preparation, cost forecasting, and cost monitoring activities

• Monitor project costs and identify cost variances against approved budgets

• Maintain cost databases and historical project costing records

Project Planning and Scheduling

• Develop, update, and maintain project schedules from project initiation through completion

• Apply Precedence Diagram Method (PDM) and PERT-CPM techniques in project planning and monitoring

• Prepare baseline schedules, look-ahead schedules, and recovery plans

• Analyze schedule performance and identify potential delays and project risks

• Monitor schedule variances and recommend corrective actions

• Prepare project status presentations and planning reports for management review

Engineering Drawings and 3D Modeling

• Prepare and revise technical drawings using AutoCAD 2D and AutoCAD 3D

• Develop conceptual and detailed 3D models using SketchUp and other applicable software

• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents

• Review engineering drawings and ensure compliance with project standards and specifications

• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, consultants, and project teams regarding drawing revisions and project requirements

Project Monitoring and Control

• Track project progress against approved schedules and key project milestones

• Monitor actual accomplishments against planned targets

• Generate planning, cost, and project control reports for management review

• Analyze schedule and cost variances and recommend mitigation measures

• Maintain project documentation and historical records for future reference

• Support project teams in achieving project schedule, cost, and performance objectives

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering discipline

• Licensed Civil Engineer is an advantage but not required

• Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying, Estimation, Planning, or Project Controls

• Strong experience in detailed cost estimation, quantity take-offs, and cost monitoring/tracking

• Experience in project scheduling and planning using PDM and PERT-CPM methodologies

• Experience in progress monitoring and project reporting

• Proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD 2D/3D, SketchUp, and Microsoft Excel

• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents

• Experience in engineering drawing preparation and 3D modeling

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and coordination skills

Preferred

• Experience in construction, infrastructure, industrial, or building projects

• Familiarity with project cost control systems and construction planning processes

• Experience coordinating with contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams

• Knowledge of project controls, scheduling techniques, and performance tracking
