What they need
Quantum Scientist, Optical Quantum Computing | Tokyo, Japan
About the company
Our client is a well-funded deep-tech startup building a fault-tolerant optical quantum computer. Its approach runs at room temperature and pressure and scales without cryogenic cooling. After a recent funding round backed by leading strategic and institutional investors, the company is growing its research team.
The role
You’ll join the research team working on a universal, fault-tolerant optical quantum computer. You’ll tackle open problems in quantum computing and photonics, contribute to the design and development of the core platform, and work with colleagues across theory, experiment, and engineering. Depending on your background and interests, your work could include:
- Designing and evaluating system architectures for optical quantum computing
- Developing and characterizing photonic devices, including integrated photonics
- Investigating the fundamental quantum optics and theory behind the platform
- Building numerical models and simulations to guide design decisions
- Running experiments and turning the results into design improvements
Experimentalists and theorists are both welcome. You’ll work on real development projects with support from senior researchers and technical leadership, and your scope will grow as you do.
You might be a fit if you have
- A PhD (or equivalent research experience) in quantum information, quantum optics, photonics, physics, or a related field
- Research experience in experiment or theory related to quantum computing, quantum optics, or photonics
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, such as simulation and modeling in Python or similar
- The ability to work across disciplines and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues
Nice to have
Experience with fault-tolerant quantum computing or error correction, continuous-variable or photonic quantum computing, squeezed light, integrated photonics design, or system-level performance modeling.
Other offers great for you!
