Direct Reports: Call Centre Manager

Objective

To process all customer enquiries effectively and efficiently, using initiative, problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail to interpret customer requirements accurately. This includes handling and creating quotations using the Company's business system, ensuring a high standard of customer service at all times.

The Quote & Sourcing Advisor will provide a positive, enthusiastic and professional first point of contact for customers, colleagues and suppliers. They will demonstrate a proactive, can-do attitude, take ownership of enquiries and work collaboratively to find solutions that meet customer needs while supporting the Company's commercial objectives.

The role requires an individual who enjoys engaging with customers, communicates confidently and positively, and can identify sales opportunities through effective questioning, recognising buying signals and using appropriate closing techniques to secure business and support profitable sales growth.

Main Responsibilities and Tasks

1. Enquiry Management

  • Coordinate customer and supplier liaison, both verbally and in writing, regarding new sales enquiries, ensuring the accurate and efficient creation of non-standard products and quotations to meet customer requirements.
  • Respond to internal and external customer enquiries promptly, professionally and enthusiastically, creating a positive customer experience at every opportunity.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, can-do attitude when dealing with enquiries, taking ownership of customer requirements and seeking solutions rather than simply identifying problems.

  • Ensure all enquiries and quotations are processed accurately, with excellent attention to detail and appropriate records maintained within the Company's business system.
  • Apply appropriate sales margins to non-standard items and determine suitable discount levels for standard items, in line with Company guidelines and commercial objectives.
  • Provide accurate, factual and timely quotation information to the external sales team and senior management.
  • Build positive working relationships with customers, colleagues and suppliers through clear communication, a helpful approach and a willingness to go the extra mile.

2. Telephone Enquiries and Sales Support

  • Handle incoming and outgoing calls confidently, professionally and with a friendly, upbeat and engaging manner.
  • Use open-ended questions and active listening to understand customer requirements and identify opportunities to recommend appropriate products or solutions.
  • Recognise buying signals and take appropriate action to progress enquiries and convert quotations into sales.
  • Handle customer objections positively, respectfully and confidently, focusing on solutions and maintaining a constructive approach.
  • Maintain a positive and resilient attitude when dealing with challenging conversations, competing priorities or demanding workloads.
  • Ensure customers feel listened to, valued and confident in the service they receive.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the customer experience, support sales growth and contribute to the overall success of the Customer Service Centre.

3. Personal Approach and Teamwork

  • Demonstrate a consistently positive, enthusiastic and approachable attitude, contributing to a supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • Show initiative, take responsibility for tasks and follow enquiries through to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Remain calm, professional and solution-focused when working under pressure or managing challenging situations.
  • Communicate clearly and constructively with colleagues across the business, sharing information and supporting the wider team's objectives.
  • Be open to feedback, willing to learn and committed to continually improving personal performance and customer service standards.
  • Represent Slingsby positively in all interactions with customers, suppliers, colleagues and other external contacts.

4. General Responsibilities

  • Comply with the Company's Health and Safety policy, reporting any risks or issues to the appropriate line manager.
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures relevant to the role.
  • Maintain a professional and positive image of the Company at all times.
  • Undertake any other reasonable ad hoc duties required in the interests of the Company.
