What they need

History doesn’t repeat itself. It’s rebuilt - one breakthrough at a time. Be part of the team redefining performance and writing the next winning chapter for Atlassian Williams F1 Team.

Atlassian Williams F1 Team– Shape our team's next chapter:
For nearly 50 years, Williams F1 Team has pushed the limits of speed and innovation. As one of the most successful teams in F1 history, with 16 World Championships and a legacy shaped by legends like Sir Frank Williams and Nigel Mansell, we’re now on a bold mission to reclaim our place at the front and win multiple championships again.

Our People Promise:
Join a high-performance team where ambition and our people promise guide everything we do. In a fast-paced, challenging environment, your work directly shapes our winning formula. Collaborate with the brightest minds in motorsport, building on our rich heritage and pushing the boundaries of speed and innovation. We want people who live our values - innovation, teamwork, resilience, excellence, and accountability to create the winning formula that drives Williams Racing back to the top.

At Atlassian Williams F1 Team, our Industrial Placement gives ambitious students 12 months inside Formula 1. You’ll take on real responsibility with projects that shape the future car and our business. Grow with a cohort from day one, then head back to university with experience you can apply immediately. Join a high-performance team, push boundaries, make an impact.

Race Operations is the heartbeat of trackside performance, covering critical functions such as Race Engineering, Race Strategy, Competitor Analysis, Tyre Performance, and Coordination. This team leads the planning and execution of each race weekend, using data-driven insights and engineering precision to maximise car and driver performance. Race Operations works closely with Performance Optimisation to form a seamless unit dedicated to delivering peak performance under pressure and transforming potential into results.

On this 12-month placement you'll support race engineering, strategy, competitor analysis and tyre performance through simulation, analytics and operational work. You'll contribute across the full race cycle, from pre-event planning to trackside operations and post-event analysis. It is a hands-on role for students with strong analytical, engineering and coding skills who want to make a real impact.

  • Work on real-time data analysis, tool development and performance reporting that shapes strategy
  • Conduct pit stop performance analysis to help optimise crew and driver inputs
  • Support the engineering activities of Drivers and FIA Formula 1 events
  • Turn complex data into clear insight for technical and non-technical audiences, showing teamwork

What we are looking for:

  • Studying a degree in engineering, mathematics, computing or physics with strong analytical thinking and coding
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python or Power BI is highly desirable (C# and C++ a bonus)
  • Comfortable with numerical and statistical methods
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; detail-oriented, proactive and collaborative
