Rack and Stack Data Center Technician

Job Summary:

• We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Rack and Stack Data Center Technician to support data center operations by installing, configuring, cabling, and maintaining server, storage, and network equipment.
• The ideal candidate will have experience working in enterprise data center environments, following cabling standards, and ensuring high availability of critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Install, rack, stack, and decommission servers, network devices, storage systems, and related equipment.
• Perform structured cabling, including copper and fiber optic installations, labelling, testing, and documentation.
• Connect and organize power distribution units (PDUs), network switches, and patch panels.
• Troubleshoot hardware, connectivity, and physical infrastructure issues.
• Execute equipment moves, adds, and changes (MAC activities).
• Conduct routine inspections of racks, cabling, and equipment health.
• Maintain accurate asset inventory and update data center documentation.
• Support hardware refreshes, server deployments, and migration projects.
• Monitor environmental conditions such as power, cooling, and rack space utilization.
• Follow data center safety procedures, security policies, and change management processes.
• Coordinate with network engineers, system administrators, and third-party vendors.
• Provide hands-on support for break-fix activities and incident response.

Experience:

• Experience in data center operations, rack and stack, or infrastructure support.
• Scope is the full range from structured cabling, racking, patch cabling.
• Knowledge of server hardware (Dell, HPE, Cisco, Lenovo, etc.).
• Experience with structured cabling standards and cable management best practices.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, switches, routers, patch panels).
• Familiarity with data center power systems, UPS, and PDUs.
• Ability to read rack elevation diagrams, floor plans, and installation documentation.
• Experience using ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Remedy.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
