Radio Access Network (RAN) HLS Engineer – Nokia

The RAN High Level Support Engineer (RAN HLS) is responsible for the remote operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, configuration, performance monitoring and technical support of Nokia RAN Network equipment across 2G, 3G, 4G/LTE and 5G networks.

The engineer will provide L2/L3 support to NOC, field engineers and other operational teams, ensuring high network availability, service quality and compliance with agreed KPIs and SLAs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fault Management & Troubleshooting

• Monitor and troubleshoot Nokia RAN network elements and associated alarms.

• Perform advanced analysis of BTS, NodeB, eNodeB and gNodeB faults.

• Conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) for major, recurring and chronic network problems.

• Analyze alarms, logs, counters, traces and performance data to identify faults.

• Provide remote technical support to field maintenance teams and follow through to resolution.

2. RAN Configuration Management

• Perform configuration activities on Nokia RAN network elements.

• Implement approved parameter changes, feature activations and network modifications.

• Perform site creation, expansion, rehoming and configuration changes.

3. Network Integration & Commissioning

• Support remote integration and commissioning of new Nokia RAN sites.

• Verify connectivity between RAN elements and associated transport/core networks.

• Perform integration checks and acceptance testing.

4. Performance Monitoring & Optimization

• Monitor RAN KPIs and network performance trends.

• Investigate degradation in accessibility, retainability, mobility, throughput and availability.

• Identify recurring performance issues and recommend preventive measures.

5. Network Availability & Preventive Maintenance

• Conduct regular RAN health checks, monitor network availability and critical alarms.

• Identify potential failures before they affect customers.

• Support preventive maintenance and network improvement activities.

6. Technical Coordination

• Work closely with NOC, Field Operations, Transmission/IP, Optimization, Planning and Project teams.

• Provide technical guidance to first-line support and field engineers.

• Provide technical reports, incident updates and RCA documentation.

7. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain RAN configuration, troubleshooting and operational documentation.

• Prepare incident and RCA reports as required.

• Track open technical issues through to closure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.

• Practical experience supporting Nokia RAN networks is highly desirable.

• 5+ years of experience in RAN operations, maintenance, integration or technical support.

• Experience supporting Nokia RAN technologies in a live mobile network.

• Experience working in a NOC/Back Office environment.

• Experience with 24/7 fault management and incident escalation.

• Experience working with field teams, vendors and other network domains.
