What they need

Summit Radio Solutions Ltd is a locally owned and operated radio communications company based in Queenstown. We provide two-way radio systems, GPS tracking solutions, repeater networks and technical support throughout the lower South Island.

We are currently looking for a full-time Radio Installer / Technician to join our team.

Please, only apply if you currently live in the Queenstown, or are planning/willing to move to Queenstown for this job. Ensure you have looked into accomodation in Queenstown prior to applying.

This role is primarily focused on installing and servicing two-way radio and GPS tracking equipment in vehicles, machinery and buildings. The work is hands-on and varied, ranging from 4WDs and heavy machinery through to remote repeater and solar-powered communications sites.

While the majority of work is based in the greater Queenstown Lakes / Central Otago area, we also support customers across Fiordland, Mt Cook and the West Coast. Some travel is involved from time to time, however less than 10% of the role is outside the Queenstown Lakes / Central Otago region.

No two days are the same, one day you could be installing a radio into a tractor, and the next you could be in a helicopter flying to a remote mountaintop site to service a repeater. Come work, live and explore the aventure capital of the world!

The job entails both workshop and field services. Key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Installation of radio and GPS equipment into various vehicles/buildings
  • Routine maintenance and repairs of customer radio fleets and equipment
  • Programming of radio fleets
  • Building and maintenance of repeater sites and DC solar systems

To apply for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • At least two years previous experience in the radio or auto electric industry
  • Experience working on vehicle electrical systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Well-presented, self-motivated, physically fit, and capable of working both individually and as part of a team
  • Show initiative and be capable of problem-solving on the fly
  • Full class 1 driver’s license
  • Comfortable working at heights

Pay rate will be between $30 and $40 per hour depending on experience.

The position is full time, 40 hours per week.

Included in the remuneration package are:

  • Modern 4WD Ute with canopy
  • Mobile phone and plan (unlimited calls, texts and data)
  • Opportunities for overtime

Candidates must be allowed to work in New Zealand.

Start date: June 1st, 2026

If you fit the criteria and are ready to get better work stories get in touch.
