Radiology - IR Tech

Role Overview: The Interventional Vascular Specialist II is responsible for supporting advanced interventional radiology procedures, assisting in complex cases such as pulmonary thrombectomy, AAA, TEVAR, and FEVAR. They precept new staff and students, circulate, monitor, and scrub procedures, and troubleshoot imaging equipment in collaboration with biomedical engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with advanced vascular procedures using specialty devices like laser, penumbra, Inari, and shockwave.
• Manage procedural supply inventory and participate in billing and maintenance tasks.
• Ensure adherence to sterile techniques and radiation safety protocols.
• Manage vascular access sites, including sheath removal and hematoma assessment.
• Recognize vascular lesions and understand vascular anatomy.
• Communicate effectively with medical teams, patients, and families.
• Support emergency situations with quick decision-making.
• Cross-train to support departmental needs as required.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum one year of experience as an Interventional Vascular Specialist or related role.
• ARTR-R (with VI or CV credential) or RCIS license required.
• Intermediate knowledge of x-ray equipment and troubleshooting skills.
• Understanding of vascular anatomy, sterile techniques, and radiation safety.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in high-pressure situations.
