What they need
Who We Are
As a premier inspection services company in Chicagoland, The BrickKicker has a philosophy of providing “Excellence in Service Quality” for home inspections and related services to the real estate industry.
Since 1989, we have worked to set a standard of professionalism within our industry. As we continue to grow our team and expand our ancillary services, we are looking for someone who shares that commitment to dependable, professional service.
Exciting Opportunity: Radon Measurement Technician
The BrickKicker is seeking a dependable, professional, and detail-oriented Radon Measurement Technician to join our growing Ancillary Services team.
This is a field-based position serving homeowners, homebuyers, real estate professionals, and other clients throughout the Northern Chicagoland area. The technician is responsible for deploying and retrieving professional radon measurement equipment, documenting testing conditions, processing test information, and helping ensure each test is completed accurately and in accordance with applicable requirements and The BrickKicker’s standards.
Most radon tests require two visits to a property—one to deploy the testing equipment and another to retrieve it following the required testing period. This position involves regular driving and multiple field stops throughout the assigned service area.
Requirements Include:
- Must currently hold an Illinois Radon Measurement Professional license OR be actively working toward completing the required training, examination, and licensing requirements.
- Candidates who are not yet licensed must be committed to successfully completing the licensing process and may not independently perform regulated radon measurement services until all applicable licensing and company training requirements have been completed.
- Proficiency in basic computer programs such as Google Workspace and Adobe, with the ability to learn additional software and mobile applications as necessary.
- Regular access to a laptop or desktop computer for required training, documentation, reporting, and other job-related tasks.
- Perform all duties with a positive and professional attitude, emphasizing excellence in customer service.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with homeowners, clients, real estate professionals, and coworkers.
- Be self-motivated, dependable, organized, and able to work independently without direct supervision.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures consistently and recognize when an issue should be escalated rather than handled outside established procedures.
- Comfortable driving throughout the Chicagoland area and managing a field-based schedule.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record.
- Employment is subject to a background check and applicable pre-employment screening.
Duties Include:
- Schedule and execute radon testing assignments in accordance with real estate transaction timelines, including the Attorney Review Period (ARP), when applicable.
- Travel to testing sites throughout the assigned service area to deploy and retrieve radon measurement equipment.
- Determine appropriate testing locations and properly place equipment in accordance with applicable requirements and company procedures.
- Access testing sites for proper device placement and retrieve testing data for accurate measurement.
- Communicate required testing conditions and other essential information to the appropriate parties to help ensure valid measurements.
- Deploy appropriate anti-tampering methods on-site.
- Document property conditions, equipment placement, testing information, and other required field data.
- Verify equipment operation and identify conditions that could affect the validity of a test.
- Adapt to access, scheduling, or testing issues as they arise and communicate promptly with the appropriate team members.
- Process test information and generate professional reports for clients.
- Maintain company-provided equipment and keep devices clean, charged, secure, and properly accounted for.
- Maintain accurate mileage, scheduling, equipment, and service records.
- Complete required Continuing Education (CE) and maintain an active license following initial licensure.
- Adhere to applicable company procedures, NRPP requirements, State of Illinois requirements, and other applicable radon measurement standards.
Schedule & Availability
This position will begin part-time, generally supporting approximately 5–10 completed radon tests per week, depending on testing volume, geography, scheduling, and business needs.
Part-time refers to the expected workload and number of hours worked and should not be interpreted as an evenings-and-weekends-only position. Radon testing is driven by property access, required testing periods, real estate transaction deadlines, and client scheduling needs.
Candidates must have daytime availability and scheduling flexibility to accommodate time-sensitive assignments. Weekend availability will also be a regular part of the position when scheduling and testing deadlines require it.
Compensation:
- $500 monthly base pay
- Production-based compensation for completed radon tests
- Opportunity for increased per-test compensation as monthly production increases
- Mileage reimbursement for approved business mileage
- Company-provided radon measurement equipment and necessary field tools
- Sentrilock card provided
- Eligible licensing and training reimbursement in accordance with company policy
- Opportunities for additional training, expanded hours, and advancement
Full production rates and compensation details will be reviewed with qualified candidates during the interview and offer process. The newer description supports the base-plus-production structure and licensing/training reimbursement.
Growth & Development
The BrickKicker is actively expanding its Ancillary Services Department, and radon measurement is an important part of that growth.
Technicians who demonstrate strong performance, reliability, and availability may have opportunities for additional assignments, expanded hours, advanced training, and additional responsibilities within the radon program.
Optional opportunities to cross-train in other ancillary services may also become available based on individual interest, performance, and business needs. Apply
Please submit your resume along with a brief introduction explaining why this type of field-based position interests you.
