Rail Network Control Trainer - 12 Months (Possible Extension)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Rail Network Control Trainer or Mentor to join a Perth-based project team supporting a significant rail systems project.

 This role suits someone who has ideally worked as a Rail Network Controller / Train Controller within BHP WAIO and has strong operational knowledge of the WAIO rail network, network control practices, and associated rail operating systems.

 The successful applicant will work closely with the project team to support the development, testing and implementation of project activities, with a particular focus on ensuring operational requirements are accurately reflected in training and project outcomes.

Based in Perth, you will join an experienced project team for up to 12 months, with the possibility of an extension depending on project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Supporting the development and delivery of training associated with rail network control operations and systems.
• Providing operational subject matter expertise from a Train Control / Rail Network Control perspective.
• Assisting the project team with system testing, operational scenarios and validation activities.
• Reviewing project and training documentation for operational accuracy.
• Supporting the development of training materials, procedures and supporting documentation.
• Participating in workshops, testing sessions and project planning activities.
• Working with project stakeholders to ensure operational requirements are understood and incorporated into project outcomes.
• Assisting with the preparation and delivery of training to operational personnel where required.

About you

• Previous experience as a Rail Network Controller / Train Controller with BHP WAIO.
• Strong knowledge of BHP WAIO rail network operations and Train Control practices.
• A sound understanding of rail safeworking, operational procedures and network control environments.
• Experience training, coaching, assessing or supporting the development of operational personnel.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
• Good written skills and the ability to review and contribute to procedures, training materials and project documentation.
• Experience with rail systems projects, testing, commissioning or system implementation would be highly regarded.
• A formal training and assessment qualification would be advantageous; however, applicants with extensive Train Control experience and demonstrated coaching or training capability are also encouraged to apply.
