Ranch Fence Crew Lead

Hilliland Contracting is hiring an experienced Ranch Fence Crew Lead to oversee and work alongside a crew installing ranch fencing throughout the Texas Hill Country and surrounding areas.

We need a hands-on leader who can lay out a fence, weld pipe braces, keep a crew productive, and deliver a clean, durable finished product.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily installation of woven wire, barbed wire, pipe braces, and ranch gates.
• Lay out fence lines, post spacing, corners, braces, and gate openings according to the approved scope.
• Cut, fit, and weld drill pipe H-braces and gate supports.
• Install pipe posts, steel T-posts, and concrete footings.
• Stretch and secure wire with proper tension and alignment.
• Operate skid steers, augers, post drivers, and other fencing equipment safely.
• Assign daily tasks and work alongside crew members to maintain production and quality.
• Plan material needs and communicate progress, jobsite conditions, and equipment issues to the field manager.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and an organized jobsite.
• Complete final quality checks and address punch-list items.

Requirements

• Proven ranch fence installation experience, including woven wire and barbed wire.
• Ability to weld pipe braces and gate assemblies independently.
• Experience leading a crew and keeping work moving without constant supervision.
• Ability to read measurements, follow layouts, and build straight, properly tensioned fences.
• Experience working in rocky terrain and on uneven grades.
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
• Willingness to travel to jobsites throughout our service area.
• Ability to perform physical work outdoors.
• Valid driver’s license; equipment hauling experience and CDL preferred.
