Ranch Hand

BARN & HORSE CARE POSITION

Weldon Ranch — Near Napanee, Ontario
Start Date: ASAP

We are looking to add the right person to our team at our high-end reining facility!

We’re looking for someone who is reliable, neat, organized, hardworking, and confident handling horses. This position is more than just cleaning stalls — we need someone who takes pride in keeping the property running smoothly and is comfortable being responsible for the horses and property when we are away at shows.

Duties include:

* Cleaning and maintaining stalls
* Keeping the barn and property clean, neat, and organized
* Feeding, blanketing, turning horses in and out
* Bathing and braiding horses
* Potentially riding, depending on experience and ability
* General horse care and barn duties
* Caring for a small number of cattle and chickens
* General property upkeep
* Problem-solving and handling things independently

What we’re looking for:

Someone who is dependable and takes their responsibilities seriously. Reliability is extremely important to us. You should be comfortable working independently, paying attention to detail, and knowing what needs to be done without having to be constantly told.

You must be comfortable and experienced handling horses safely. Riding experience is an asset, but being confident and competent with everyday horse care is most important.

On-site housing is provided.

This position requires someone who is comfortable working 7 days a week, with reasonable time off provided when requested with appropriate notice. You also need to be comfortable staying on the property and caring for everything while we are away at shows. We can negotiate about working weekends when we are not busy showing.

We are a family-oriented, high-end reining facility. We work hard, but we also like to have fun and keep things laid back. We treat the people who work with us like family and want someone who fits well into our team and our way of doing things.

We’re looking for someone who shows up, works hard, takes pride in their work, uses common sense, and doesn’t need to be babysat.
