R&D Documentation Engineer

ABOUT US

Premnath Rail (Premnath Engineering Works) designs and manufactures railway construction and maintenance equipment, including road-rail vehicles and inspection vehicles, for Indian Railways, DFCCIL, metros and international customers. Our R&D team is looking for an engineer to own technical documentation and help our products meet RDSO and international standards.

THE ROLE

What you will do

• Control R&D documents: numbering, filing, revisions and registers.
• Prepare clause-wise RDSO compliance matrices and technical files (RDSO specifications, EN 15746, EN 14033).
• Support RDSO inspections and trials with QAPs, test protocols and test reports.
• Write O&M manuals, maintenance schedules, troubleshooting guides and spare parts catalogues.
• Prepare technical specifications and vendor comparison sheets for R&D purchases.
• Research standards, tenders and competitor products; write short technical notes.

What you will bring

• B.E. / B.Tech Mechanical (preferred), Mechatronics or Electrical.
• 3 6 years in technical documentation or compliance, ideally in railway, rolling stock or heavy equipment.
• Ability to read GA / assembly drawings and BOMs.
• Excellent written English; good Hindi.
• Attention to detail and discipline with revisions.
• Prior RDSO, DFCCIL or metro submission experience is a strong plus.

REQUIRED SKILLS

AI tools

Hands-on use of ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot or similar to draft, summarise long specifications and pull clauses into Excel, while checking every output against the source.

MS Office

Advanced Word (styles, multilevel numbering, table of contents, cross-references, templates) and Excel (XLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation, trackers); PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.

Research

Finding, reading and summarising standards and technical literature (RDSO, IRS, EN, IS, ISO, UIC) accurately, with source and revision.

RDSO compliance

Understanding of the RDSO approval route (specification, design approval, prototype inspection, trials) and preparing clause-wise compliance statements with evidence.

O&M documentation

Writing operation and maintenance manuals, maintenance schedules and parts catalogues for mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
