What they need

R&D Engineer: Miniature Sensing

Endiatx, Inc. · Hayward, California · Full-time, limited duration employment (3–6 months), with potential conversion to a long-term position · Recent master's or PhD graduates · Immediate start

About Endiatx

Endiatx is a medical device company developing microrobotic systems for diagnostic use inside the human body. Our flagship platforms include PillBot™, a propeller-driven endoscopic capsule designed to enable real-time visualization of the stomach, and PillVue™, a passive capsule endoscopy system designed to improve access to gastrointestinal diagnostics.

We are a multidisciplinary team of engineers, clinicians, and operators building a new category of medical diagnostics at the intersection of robotics, imaging, and AI.

Role Summary

We're looking for a recent master's or PhD graduate to join an early-stage R&D program in miniature biomedical sensing, starting immediately. You'll take ideas from first-principles modeling to working benchtop prototypes, own experiments end to end, and present results that shape real design decisions. This is a hands-on research role, not a support position: expect real responsibility, close collaboration with the CEO and engineering leads, and work that could become part of a regulated medical device. The position runs three to six months, with potential conversion to a long-time position.

We welcome candidates whose strength is on the acoustics and sensor-hardware side, the signal-processing and estimation side, or both, and will shape the project around the selected candidate's expertise.

Required Qualifications

  • Completed master's or PhD in biomedical, electrical or mechanical engineering, acoustics, physics, robotics, or a related field.
  • Hands-on research experience in at least one of: ultrasound transducers or acoustic systems; analog or mixed-signal circuit design; signal processing for sensing; state estimation or sensor fusion for robots.
  • Strong lab skills and a record of designing experiments, collecting clean data and drawing defensible conclusions.
  • Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for modeling and data analysis.
  • Clear technical writing and the judgment to work independently in a small team.
  • Authorized to work in the United States (for example on OPT, H-1B, as a permanent resident or as a U.S. citizen) and available to start immediately.

Nice to Have

  • High-frequency ultrasound (roughly 10 MHz and above): transducer design or characterization, piezoelectric materials (PZT, lithium niobate, composites) or MEMS transducers (PMUT/CMUT).
  • Experience with acoustic simulation tools (k-Wave, Field II, PZFlex, COMSOL) and measurement equipment (pulser-receivers, hydrophones, network analyzers).
  • Pulse-echo or Doppler signal processing, ultra-low-power front-end design, or embedded firmware on microcontrollers.
  • Kalman filtering, visual or inertial odometry, SLAM, or underwater robot navigation.
  • Work with tissue phantoms, ex-vivo tissue or animal studies, or familiarity with medical device standards (IEC 60601, ISO 14971, ISO 10993).
  • Publications, patents or open-source work in any of the above.

Location

On-site in Hayward, CA. Limited hybrid flexibility may be available based on project needs.

Compensation

$35 - $45 / hr base salary, plus equity and benefits.

Work Authorization

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Equal Opportunity

Endiatx is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity across all backgrounds and experiences.
