R&D Executive – Job Description

1. Product Development

Develop new products from concept to commercialization (recipe creation, formulation, testing).

Improve existing products in terms of taste, texture, shelf life, cost, and stability.

Conduct sensory evaluations and collect structured feedback.

Prepare samples for internal review, customers, and market testing.

2. Research & Formulation

Study current market trends, ingredients, and competitors to propose new ideas.

Conduct lab trials, pilot runs, and scale-up processes.

Maintain accurate formulation records, costing sheets, and process parameters.

3. Raw Material & Ingredient Evaluation

Research and evaluate new ingredients, suppliers, and technologies.

Conduct ingredient functionality studies and compatibility tests.

Work with procurement on sourcing raw materials and verifying specifications.

4. Quality, Safety & Compliance

Ensure all product developments comply with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, Halal, labeling regulations).

Work with QA to verify product stability, microbiological safety, and shelf-life testing.

Prepare product specifications, COAs, and technical documents.

5. Production Support

Assist production teams during trial runs or new product introductions.

Provide technical guidance on equipment handling, mixing processes, and troubleshooting product issues.

Optimize processes to improve yield and reduce cost.

6. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain detailed R&D reports, reformulation logs, and test results.

Prepare technical presentations and product briefs for management or clients.

Update SOPs and maintain R&D records with proper traceability.

7. Cross-Department Collaboration

Work closely with Marketing for new product ideas and claims.

Liaise with Sales for customer sample requests and technical support.

Coordinate with QC/QA, Production, and Purchasing to ensure successful product launches.

8. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

Identify opportunities for new product categories, functional ingredients, or cost-saving projects.

Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
