R&D MANAGER

About the role

The R&D Manager is responsible for leading and managing motorcycle research and development activities, particularly in product evaluation, technical testing, performance assessment and product improvement. The role ensures that R&D activities are completed according to the planned schedule and works closely with Product Development, Marketing, Production and Aftersales teams to support successful product launches and continuous product improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage R&D activities related to motorcycle product evaluation and testing, ensuring all targets are achieved according to the scheduled plan.
• Conduct and oversee technical evaluations covering areas such as performance, endurance, handling, serviceability, ergonomics and wiring routing.
• Evaluate motorcycle products from both technical and rider perspectives, including performance characteristics, rider preferences and current design trends.
• Liaise with overseas suppliers and business partners to develop, follow up and improve product implementation until successful launch and mass production.
• Work closely with internal departments, particularly Product Development, Marketing, Production and Aftersales, to ensure effective product development and implementation.
• Identify product or technical issues and carry out problem analysis to determine appropriate corrective and improvement actions.
• Manage negotiation, product specifications and technical requirements with relevant internal and external parties.
• Maintain proper and accurate test records, evaluation reports, technical documentation and product development records.
• Monitor product progress and ensure effective tracking and follow-up of R&D activities.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives for R&D processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

About you

• Minimum Diploma or Degree in a relevant field.
• Possession of B2 or B motorcycle licence is required.
• Minimum 5 years of overall working experience.
• Minimum 2 years of related working experience.
• Strong knowledge and interest in motorcycle technical aspects, performance, rider preferences and design trends.
• Proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate evaluation data into actionable insights and improvement strategies.
• Good task and manpower management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Able to communicate, read and write effectively in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
