Job Description

Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM) is seeking an R&D Process Engineer to develop, improve, and implement manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies across our plant. You’ll lead problem solving on the production floor, cutting defects, scrap, rework, and downtime while boosting quality and productivity.

  • Use process data (defects, scrap, rework, OEE) to find weaknesses and drive improvements in methods, materials, training, and equipment
  • Provide hands-on technical support across compounding, extrusion, web handling, and adhesive coating, and coach production teams to take “line ownership of quality”
  • Write and maintain process specifications, and implement statistical process control
  • Lead plant projects, including new technology, cost reduction, new product or process start-ups, R&D trials, and capital justification
  • Support Carlisle Operating System (COS) initiatives, tiered accountability, and layered audits, and define a 3-year technical roadmap for the facility
  • Maintain systems for dimensional control, scrap/defect tracking, mixing control, and bar coding, and troubleshoot SAP data
  • Mentor team members and report clearly on projects and processes

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or Science
  • 1–5 years of plastic or rubber processing experience in a technical support role
  • Knowledge of plastics manufacturing, especially sheeting, compounding, extrusion, and web handling
  • Strength in structured problem solving (DMAIC, Five Why, A3) and quality methods such as SPC, DOE, and gage R&R
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP, and SFIS
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Preferred: 5+ years of experience, Lean Six Sigma certification, SPC and plastics technology coursework
