R&D Project Manager

Responsible for R&D project management:

• Lead and manage R&D projects from concept, planning, development, verification, validation, industrialization, to product launch and transition into serial production.
• Define project scope, objectives, milestones, deliverables, resource plans, schedules, budgets, and risk management plans.
• Coordinate cross-functional project teams, including software, firmware, electronics hardware, mechanical design, testing, quality, production, purchasing, and product management.
• Facilitate technical requirement discussions and clarification with Product Management, customers, R&D engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Track project progress, identify risks and issues, drive mitigation actions, and escalate critical topics when necessary.
• Organize and lead project meetings, design reviews, milestone reviews, risk reviews, and project status reporting.
• Ensure that project activities follow internal R&D processes, product development procedures, quality standards, and applicable industrial automation standards.
• Support engineering teams in resolving technical, resource, schedule, and cross-functional coordination issues.
• Drive alignment between product requirements, technical feasibility, cost targets, manufacturability, and time-to-market expectations.
• Support new product introduction, production ramp-up, and handover from R&D to manufacturing and service teams.
• Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain to support process improvement, cost reduction, manufacturability, and problem-solving activities.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including project plans, timelines, meeting minutes, action lists, risk registers, change records, and management reports.
• Ensure effective communication with local and global stakeholders in a cross-cultural working environment.

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline. Master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in R&D, engineering, product development, or technical project management.
• At least 3 years of experience managing cross-functional R&D or product development projects.
• Experience in industrial automation, industrial equipment, instrumentation, pumps, motion control, or related industries is highly preferred.
• Good understanding of product development involving software/firmware, electronics hardware, and mechanical structure.
• Familiar with product development lifecycle, project management methodologies, Agile/Scrum, stage-gate processes, or hybrid project management approaches.
• Experience working with engineering teams from concept design through prototype, testing, validation, and mass production.
• Strong capability in project planning, schedule control, risk management, stakeholder management, and problem-solving.
• Good understanding of quality, compliance, safety, and documentation requirements in industrial product development.
• Good English communication skills, both written and spoken, for technical discussions, reporting, and collaboration with global teams.
• PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master, or other project management certification is a plus.
