R&D Senior Chemist

The product development for the South-East Asia Pacific region is done at our Regional R&D Centre in Shah Alam, Malaysia.

Are you a passionate R&D Senior Chemist ready to take your expertise to the next level?  We are looking for an innovative, skilled, motivated scientist to join our R&D Protective team and play a key role in developing new products, improving existing products, solving technical challenges, exploring new raw materials & technologies, and collaborating actively with relevant stakeholders.

This position will be reporting to the Regional R&D Manager – Marine and Protective SEAP and will be based in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Job Responsibilities:

• Carry out research activities through careful planning, formulating, testing and evaluating formulations.
• Contribute professionally both internally and externally to increasing the competence of the department.
• Make use of statistical tools and software to plan and analyze experiments.
• Supporting operations in improvement studies and contributing to cross-regional collaboration, participating in cross regional and global development projects.
• Report results from research and development work both orally and in writing, presenting results, findings and insights in a clear and convincing way.
• Search for, make use of and communicate knowledge found through literature, courses, practical experience and by learning from others.
• Gain knowledge and use of necessary safety equipment in a laboratory environment.
• Attend to the daily order in the laboratory so that the workspace is tidy, safe, and pleasant.

Job Requirements​:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or relevant fields.
• Minimum 3 years of work experience in Coatings or related industry.
• Work experience in flooring related industry is an advantage.
• Background in or experience with statistics, design of experiments and data analysis is an advantage.
• Work experience in chemical research and development is an advantage.
• Knowledge of analytical techniques and instrumentation is an advantage.

·       Proficiency in verbal and written English is required.
