R&D Supervisor

About the role

Lead the development, formulation, and improvement of bakery products. Develop and optimize formulations to achieve consistent taste, texture, quality, functionality, and cost.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, formulation, and improvement of bakery products
• Develop and optimize formulations to achieve consistent taste, texture, quality, functionality, and cost
• Collaborate with QA, Marketing, Manufacturing, Procurement, and other teams for product development and commercialization
• Evaluate project briefs, timelines, trial results, and project milestones
• Conduct and oversee product trials, scale-up, troubleshooting, and production turnover
• Support cost optimization, ingredient substitution, and process improvement initiatives
• Train, supervise, and mentor R&D staff
• Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, food safety, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
• Drive bakery innovation based on consumer trends and business objectives

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• 3–5 years of R&D/product development experience, preferably in bakery or food manufacturing
• Experience in bakery formulation, product trials, scale-up, and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of bakery ingredients, GMP, HACCP, food safety, and regulatory requirements
• Experience in cost optimization and ingredient substitution
• Supervisory or team leadership experience
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills
• Creative, innovative, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
