R&D Technologist

BODCO is a rapidly growing manufacturer of infant dairy nutritional products who are seeking a talented R&D Technologist to join our team. This is a full-time position based in Pukete, Hamilton. As an R&D Technologist, you will play a crucial role in driving innovation, product development and product registrations. This position is integral to our strategic objectives of bringing new and improved dairy nutritional products to market, and you will be at the heart of transforming concepts into commercially viable solutions that meet both regulatory standards and consumer expectations.

Working closely with the Technical & Quality Director, you will be proactive, assertive and have the knowledge to deliver outstanding performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development Support:

• Assist in the development and formulation of new milk powder products.
• Conduct research on market trends, ingredients, and competitor products.
• Prepare samples and prototypes for testing and evaluation.

Project Coordination:

• Coordinate and track the progress of new product development projects.
• Ensure timely completion of project milestones and deliverables.
• Assist in organizing and conducting product trials and sensory evaluations.

Documentation and Compliance:

• Maintain accurate records of formulations, specifications, and test results.
• Ensure all new products comply with food safety regulations and quality standards.
• Assist in preparing documentation for product approvals and certifications.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with suppliers to source ingredients and packaging materials.
• Liaise with the marketing and sales teams to support product launches.
• Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure product consistency and quality.

Qualifications:

Education:

• A degree or diploma in Food Science, Food Technology or equivalent.

Experience:

• 2 - 3 years dairy/infant formula R&D experience is essential.

Skills:

• Demonstrated technical knowledge of dairy products, spray dried base powders, and dry blended finished products.

• Proven experience in product and ingredient research to support the continued development of new and existing formulations.

• Proven experience in developing and implementing procedures to meet export or import requirements in a food environment.

• Previous experience in China infant formula registration and SAMR requirements for infant formula or dairy nutritional products.

• Expert knowledge of GMP, HACCP, RMP management, Halal compliance.

• Previous experience and strong insights working closely with production, packaging, regulatory, QA/QC, procurement, finance, third party laboratories, suppliers and marketing.

• Demonstrated working knowledge of regulatory legislation (FSANZ, GB Standard) as it relates to infant formula or dairy nutritional manufacturing and exporting.

• Excellent organisational and project management skills.

• Ability to conduct detailed research and analysis.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin is essential.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
