Job Description: Reactor Operator

Job Responsibilities

• Reactor Operation: Operate glass-lined and stainless-steel reactors used in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical intermediates and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).
• Batch Processing: Execute manufacturing operations as per approved Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Process Parameter Monitoring: Monitor and control reaction temperature, pressure, stirring speed, reaction time, and pH, as applicable.
• Material Handling and Charging: Handle and charge raw materials, solvents, and chemicals according to approved batch instructions.
• Process Operations: Perform heating, cooling, stirring, solvent charging, distillation, and other chemical processing activities.
• Equipment Cleaning: Clean reactors and associated equipment according to approved cleaning procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
• Safety and Compliance: Follow plant safety procedures, chemical handling guidelines, GMP requirements, and PPE instructions.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate batch records, equipment usage logs, and process-related documentation.
• Equipment Monitoring: Inspect reactors, pipelines, valves, pumps, and agitators and report any abnormalities or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Production Support: Ensure safe, efficient, and timely completion of batch manufacturing activities as per production schedules.

Required Experience and Skills

• Relevant experience in reactor operation within the API pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing industry.
• Practical knowledge of glass-lined and stainless-steel reactors.
• Understanding of batch manufacturing processes, material charging, solvent handling, and distillation.
• Ability to monitor process parameters and follow approved manufacturing instructions.
• Knowledge of GMP, SOPs, chemical safety, and equipment cleaning procedures.
