Reading Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Reading Specialist to join our therapy team by providing after school reading instruction. In this vital role, you will support students’ literacy development by designing and implementing targeted instructional strategies. Your expertise will help foster a love for reading, improve comprehension skills, and promote overall academic success. You will collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and therapists to create an inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of young learners. This position is ideal for teachers/reading specialists who are looking for additional income streams in the afterschool hours, with consecutive students arranged in back to back sessions.

Pay rate: $45 per hour with at least 3 hours per date of service.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement evidence-based literacy plans for students.
• Design engaging lesson plans
• Conduct ongoing student assessments to evaluate progress and inform instructional adjustments using data analysis and quantitative methods

Qualifications:

• Certified Reading Specialist by PA Department of Education
• Experience with Wilson Reading, Orton Gillingham Curriculum
• Proven experience working with young children in early childhood education or elementary school settings
• Strong knowledge of childhood development, literacy education, and teaching methodologies
• Experience working alongside parents and communicating regularly with families

Pay: $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4.0 – 6.0 per week
