GIS is seeking a Reality Capture Field Technician to support the collection and delivery of accurate 3D spatial data for industrial and commercial projects. This primarily field-oriented role involves operating laser scanning equipment, supporting survey control activities, performing field quality checks, and organizing captured data for processing and use by engineering, design, construction, and technology teams. Candidates with related technical field experience and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply; responsibilities and independence will grow with demonstrated experience. The position may also support office-based scan registration and point cloud processing.

Key Responsibilities: RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

· Perform terrestrial and mobile laser scanning at industrial and commercial facilities, following GIS and client safety procedures.

· Prepare, inspect, transport, set up, and maintain scanning equipment, tripods, batteries, targets, and accessories.

· Assist with capture planning, scan coverage, target placement, field documentation, and verification of data completeness.

· Support survey control activities, including identification and documentation of monuments, targets, ground control points, and use of total stations or GNSS/GPS equipment as trained and authorized.

· Perform field QA/QC checks; identify missing coverage, data quality concerns, or equipment issues and communicate corrective actions promptly.

· Organize, transfer, back up, and document field datasets in accordance with project file naming, data management, and QA/QC procedures.

· Assist with preliminary scan registration, alignment, review, and processing using Leica Register 360, FARO Scene, Autodesk ReCap, NavVis IVION, or comparable platforms as experience permits.

· Coordinate with survey, processing, engineering, and project teams regarding field progress, deliverable readiness, and technical issues.

· Complete field logs, daily progress updates, and required safety and quality documentation; perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications:

· One or more years of experience in reality capture, surveying, construction layout, industrial field services, or another related technical discipline; prior laser scanning experience is not required for trainable candidates.

· Technical certification or associate degree in surveying, drafting/design, engineering technology, geospatial sciences, or a related field.

· Experience working in petrochemical, oil and gas, manufacturing, or commercial construction environments.

· Experience with NavVis, FARO, Leica, or similar mobile or terrestrial laser scanning equipment.

· Familiarity with survey control, coordinate systems, LiDAR principles, scan registration, or point cloud QA/QC.

· Experience with Leica Register 360, FARO Scene, Autodesk ReCap, NavVis IVION, Leica Cyclone, or similar software.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel for logs and tracking.

Work Environment and Travel:

This position combines field assignments and office-based activities, with fieldwork expected to be a primary responsibility. Assignments may require travel to client facilities, overnight stays, extended field deployments, and work outside standard business hours depending on project needs. Specific travel expectations and scheduling will be discussed during recruiting.
