What they need

Reception Management Position

We're starting our search early for a Reception Manager for our 2027 camping season.

Our Reception team is the hub of our campground. They handle reservations, guest questions, check-ins, payments, visitor registration, phone calls, and plenty of situations that don't fit neatly into a script.

We're looking for someone who can lead that team—not simply work behind the desk.

This is a hands-on management position. Our Reception Manager will work alongside the reception team while also being responsible for training, consistency, accountability, problem-solving, and the overall operation of the department.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Training, supervising, and providing ongoing direction to Reception team members
  • Working alongside the team answering phones, assisting guests, making reservations, processing payments, and completing normal reception duties
  • Making sure campground policies and procedures are communicated and applied consistently
  • Helping team members learn how to solve problems rather than immediately passing every difficult situation to a manager
  • Recognizing which situations can be handled at Reception and which genuinely need to be escalated
  • Supporting employees when they appropriately enforce campground policies
  • Addressing employee performance, behavior, attendance, and professionalism concerns promptly
  • Making sure opening, closing, and daily responsibilities are completed consistently
  • Monitoring communication and documentation so important information doesn't disappear between shifts
  • Helping maintain accurate reservations, guest accounts, registrations, and records
  • Handling guest concerns professionally, including situations involving upset or frustrated guests
  • Identifying recurring problems and helping develop better procedures or training to prevent them
  • Communicating effectively with campground management about significant guest, staffing, or operational concerns

Who we're looking for

The right person doesn't necessarily need campground experience. We can teach our reservation system, policies, and procedures.

We're looking for someone with good judgment.

Someone who can listen to a situation, gather the necessary information, make a reasonable decision, and move forward.

Someone who doesn't need a script for every possible scenario—but also doesn't make up their own rules when they don't know the answer.

The right candidate should:

  • Have leadership, supervisory, customer service, hospitality, office, or similar experience
  • Be comfortable leading both teen and adult employees
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in person, over the phone, and in writing
  • Be confident dealing with difficult or upset customers without becoming defensive or intimidated
  • Be able to enforce policies politely and firmly
  • Be organized and detail-oriented
  • Be comfortable learning computer systems and working with reservations, payments, and guest accounts
  • Be willing to coach employees and address problems instead of working around them
  • Be able to make reasonable decisions independently
  • Know when a situation truly needs additional management involvement
  • Be willing to work alongside the team rather than simply directing from the sidelines
  • Understand that great customer service does not mean saying yes to everything

Campground experience is welcome, but it isn't required. Experience in hospitality, hotels, customer service, office management, recreation, retail, or other guest-facing leadership roles may translate well to this position.

Position Schedule & Start Date

We're willing to start as soon as we find the right person.

This position will begin as a part-time management/training position, approximately 20 hours per week, through February 2027. Beginning in March 2027, the position will transition to full-time as we prepare for and enter our 2027 camping season.

Starting earlier gives our new manager the opportunity to learn our campground, systems, policies, and expectations before the busy season begins—and gives us the opportunity to provide much more thorough training than we can once we're operating at full speed.

We're looking for someone interested in growing into ownership of their department, not simply filling a seasonal shift. While the winter schedule is lighter, the responsibilities and hours will increase significantly as we approach the camping season.

The full-time seasonal schedule will include weekends, holidays, and some evenings, particularly during our busiest periods.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
