Receptionist

About the role

This position is as a Receptionist at Rainforest Retreat. Your primary role will be to greet guests in a warm and friendly manner, check in and check out guests, and ensure they have an enjoyable and comfortable stay. You will be part of the team that provides guest travellers and the public with an all-round pleasurable and unforgettable experience as they travel and discover the natural wonders of the West Coast of New Zealand. The Rainforest Retreat strives to provide an experience that will exceed all expectations, and we expect you to help us achieve and maintain this philosophy by always providing a professional and friendly service with a smile.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and welcome all guests to Rainforest ensuring they get the biggest warmest welcome from you
• Explain to the guests at check-in all the facilities and services the Rainforest Retreat has to offer, using the opportunity to upsell other products such as travel activities and the bar & Restaurant
• Ensure that all confirmed and tentative reservations and group bookings have been entered and accommodated
• Answer incoming telephone, faxes, e-mails and written reservation requests in a timely manner and use effective selling techniques to ensure bookings
• Be fully knowledgeable with all current room rates, packages and promotions especially during the winter season
• Process wholesale FIT and group requests
• Gain knowledge of local activities to share and sell to guests
• Cash up after every shift ensuring monies balance with the reservation system
• Check out guests in a friendly manner and ensure that their last impression of the Rainforest Retreat is a great one
• Be on time to start your shift as per the rostered timings

About you

• Honest and reliable
• Good time management skills
• Understanding of the importance of customer service
• Positive, polite, respectful and friendly manner
• Ability to communicate with the team and give feedback whenever necessary
• Ensure a high standard of personal presentation
• Familiar with Rainforest Evacuation Procedures
• Comply with all Health and Safety regulations and policies, including hazard control management and identification, as per requirements of Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
