What they need
Veterinary Receptionist – The Strand Veterinarian
About Us
Do you wish you worked somewhere you truly felt valued and respected, with great work/life balance and room to grow your passions? At The Strand Veterinarian, we’re a caring collective of animal lovers, wellbeing supporters and goal enhancers. We believe in taking the time to care, for our patients, our clients and each other.
Our fear-free philosophy helps create a calm and positive environment for everyone who walks through our doors. We start each day with a morning huddle, incorporating activities that support our team’s mental and emotional wellbeing, from meditation and yoga to art and reflection.
Our bespoke small animal clinic is built around three simple values:
- Treat them as our own
- Step into their shoes
- Dream big
About the Role
We’re looking for a warm, organised and people-focused Veterinary Receptionist to join our Front of House team.
Working 4–5 days per week, with a minimum of 32 hours per fortnight, you’ll be an important part of the client experience, welcoming clients and their pets, managing enquiries and appointments, and helping keep the day running smoothly.
Our roster includes a mix of early and late shifts, generally 8am–4pm or 10am–6pm, with some flexibility depending on the right person. No weekend, on-call or after-hours work is required.
This would be a great fit for someone with 1–3 years’ reception or customer service experience who enjoys a busy environment where no two days are quite the same. Veterinary-specific reception experience would be highly regarded, but isn’t essential.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Previous reception, administration or customer service experience
- A warm, professional and confident approach with clients
- Strong communication skills across phone, email and face-to-face interactions
- Great organisation, administration and data entry skills
- The ability to multitask and remain calm when things get busy
- Initiative, reliability and strong attention to detail
- A genuine love of providing great customer service
- A collaborative approach and willingness to support the wider clinic team
- Previous veterinary reception experience would be a bonus
Why Join Us?
Along with joining a supportive, wellbeing-focused team, you’ll have access to some great benefits, including:
- Competitive salary (based on experience)
- No weekend or after-hours work
- Birthday leave
- Southern Cross Health Insurance after six months of employment for eligible team members working over 24 hours per week
- $2,000 staff discount on pet care
- A beautiful, modern clinic space, with access to premium shared offices and meeting rooms
- Paid Parental Leave, as well as Paid Purrental Leave (for your furry family members!).
- Ongoing opportunities for professional growth and development through access to the VC Learning Academy (online learning portal).
If you’re someone who loves people just as much as pets and takes pride in creating a welcoming, organised and positive client experience, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply now with your CV and a short cover letter telling us a little about yourself and why you’d love to join The Strand Veterinarian.
Other offers great for you!
