Receptionist

About the role

Starz Hotel is looking for a friendly, reliable and detail-oriented Hotel Receptionist / Night Auditor to join our team in Kluang, Johor.

You will manage front desk operations, assist guests throughout their stay and check daily hotel transactions during the night shift. We welcome candidates who enjoy customer service, handle payments accurately and are comfortable working independently overnight.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome guests and handle check-ins, check-outs and late arrivals.
• Manage reservations and enquiries received through calls, messages, walk-ins and online booking platforms.
• Provide information about room rates, availability, hotel facilities and local amenities.
• Process payments, issue receipts and maintain accurate guest accounts.
• Check daily room charges, payments and outstanding balances.
• Reconcile cash and electronic payments, complete the night audit and prepare daily reports.
• Identify and report booking or payment discrepancies to management.
• Coordinate with housekeeping on room readiness and guest requests.
• Handle guest concerns courteously and follow hotel procedures for incidents and emergencies.
• Maintain guest confidentiality and provide clear handovers between shifts.
• Keep the reception area clean, organised and welcoming.

What we’re looking for

• A friendly, professional attitude and a commitment to good guest service.
• Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin is an advantage when assisting Mandarin-speaking guests.
• Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn hotel booking and property management systems.
• Accuracy when handling cash, payments and guest records.
• The ability to work independently and remain calm during busy periods.
• A responsible, punctual and trustworthy approach to work.
• Availability to work night shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Experience in hotel reception, night auditing, customer service or basic bookkeeping is an advantage. Candidates without hotel experience who are willing to learn are also encouraged to apply.
