Most projects involve repairs following water mitigation, including restoring damaged walls and ceilings, matching existing textures, painting, and completing light reconstruction work. We also perform residential remodeling and renovation projects.
This position may begin as part-time or full-time, depending on experience and company workload. Part-time employees may have the opportunity to transition to full-time employment based on performance, reliability, workmanship, and available work. As Builpire grows, employees will also have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and advance within the company.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, patch, tape, mud, and finish drywall.
- Match existing wall and ceiling textures, including orange peel, knockdown, smooth finishes, and other common textures.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching, caulking, and priming.
- Protect floors, furnishings, and surrounding areas before starting work.
- Apply paint, stain, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, or sprayers.
- Perform plaster repairs and other wall and ceiling finish work.
- Install and replace baseboards, trim, and other finish materials.
- Assist with residential remodeling and post-mitigation reconstruction.
- Detach and reset vanities, toilets, and other fixtures when qualified and assigned.
- Assist with flooring removal, repair, and installation as needed.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites.
- Properly use, maintain, and care for company tools and equipment.
- Follow company procedures, jobsite safety requirements, and applicable OSHA standards.
- Communicate professionally with project managers, coworkers, homeowners, and other trades.
- Complete assigned work to company quality standards and within the expected schedule.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of professional experience in drywall repair, texture matching, and painting.
- Ability to produce clean, professional repairs and finishes that blend with existing surfaces.
- Experience safely using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and construction equipment.
- Ability to measure work areas accurately and calculate basic material quantities.
- Reliable transportation to jobsites throughout the company’s service area.
- Valid California driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a job-related background check and driving-record review, consistent with applicable law.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and communicate effectively.
- Dependable attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct.
- Ability to safely perform the physical duties of the position, including lifting and carrying construction materials and equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Availability for occasional emergency work and overtime as needed. Overtime will be paid in accordance with applicable law.
Preferred Qualifications
The following skills and experience are helpful but not required:
- Ability to complete smaller drywall repairs, including taping, mudding, and texturing, within the same workday when materials and conditions allow.
- Flooring removal, repair, and installation.
- Baseboard installation and finish carpentry.
- Plaster repair.
- Residential remodeling and renovation.
- Water-damage repairs and post-mitigation reconstruction.
- Detaching and resetting vanities and toilets.
- Minor handyman work and fixture installation.
- Spray-painting and other coating applications.
- Access to a cargo van or pickup truck suitable for transporting tools and materials.
