BDV Recovery provides 24-hour vehicle recovery and roadside assistance. We’re developing our in-house control team and looking for someone dependable who wants to learn, contribute and grow with us.

As a controller, you’ll reassure customers, support our drivers and help make sure every job is handled safely and professionally. In return, we offer training, support and the opportunity to have a say in how our team develops.

We’ll provide training in our systems and procedures. Experience in customer service, transport, dispatch or sales would be useful. Recovery experience would be an advantage, but isn’t essential.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to our Local Recovery Manager, Carl, you’ll:

• Take calls from customers, breakdown organisations and government agencies, gathering accurate information and arranging assistance.
• Allocate the right driver and recovery vehicle to each job, considering safety, availability and response times.
• Keep customers informed about arrival times, delays and progress, offering reassurance when they need it.
• Support drivers throughout their jobs, listen to concerns and raise issues promptly.
• Provide quotations within agreed pricing guidelines and help turn incoming recovery enquiries into bookings.
• Maintain accurate digital records, complete clear handovers and help with daily administration.
• Welcome customers visiting the depot and deal with enquiries professionally.
• Contribute ideas to improve our service and help the business grow.

What we’re looking for

• A friendly, confident telephone manner and clear communication.
• A helpful approach to customers and respect for colleagues.
• Sound judgement and the ability to stay calm when priorities change.
• Good organisation, attention to detail and reliable timekeeping.
• Confidence using computers and learning different systems.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good local geographical knowledge, or a willingness to learn.
• Flexibility to work days, nights and weekends.

Hours and working pattern

We’re developing a rota likely to include 12-hour shifts on a four-on/four-off basis, covering days, nights and weekends.

The role may initially involve weekday daytime hours while you learn our operation and the team develops. Your initial working pattern and paid hours will be confirmed before appointment, with any later changes discussed and agreed in advance.

The role is based at our Flixborough depot. Appointment is subject to the relevant vetting and background checks required for the role.

Pay: £13.50-£14.50 per hour
