Recreation Supervisor

Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility | Long Island, NY

A skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility on Long Island is seeking a motivated and compassionate Recreation Supervisor to help oversee recreational programming and resident engagement. The ideal candidate will have experience in a long-term care or recreational setting and a passion for creating meaningful activities that enhance residents' quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the day-to-day management and coordination of recreation department operations.
• Provide leadership and oversee departmental activities in the Recreation Director's absence.
• Organize, schedule, and lead group activities and individualized programs tailored to residents' needs and interests.
• Complete required MDS assessments, care plans, admission evaluations, quarterly reviews, and significant change assessments accurately and on time.
• Monitor resident involvement in activities and communicate concerns or changes to the appropriate department leadership.
• Provide coverage and support for recreation staff as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with applicable facility policies and regulatory standards.
• Assist with special projects and other departmental duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• At least two years of experience in a nursing home or recreational program within the past five years.
• Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
• Proficiency with computers; familiarity with electronic medical record systems preferred.
• Dependable, adaptable, and committed to resident-centered care.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely assist with transporting residents to and from activities.
• Ability to arrange and dismantle activity spaces, including moving tables and chairs.
• Ability to perform physical tasks requiring exertion of up to 50 pounds.
