About Middle River Power

Middle River Power (MRP) is a private equity-sponsored energy platform specializing in the investment and asset management of U.S. power generation facilities. With over 8 GW of natural gas, coal, battery storage, and solar assets across multiple states, MRP is committed to safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Backed by experienced leadership and a data-driven approach, MRP fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. We value talented individuals who bring curiosity, accountability, and a commitment to excellence.

Position Summary

Middle River Power is seeking a motivated, hands-on Recruiter to support hiring initiatives across our operations portfolio. This position will primarily focus on recruiting hourly, skilled trades, and technical operations personnel across our power generation facilities.

The ideal candidate brings experience recruiting in manufacturing, industrial, union, or similarly operational environments and understands the unique challenges of attracting and hiring skilled hourly talent.

This is a full-time, six-month temporary position based in our Chicago office, with the potential to transition into a permanent role depending on business needs, recruiting workload, and individual performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for hourly, skilled trades, technical, and operational positions across MRP's facilities.
  • Partner with plant leadership, hiring managers, and Human Resources to understand staffing needs and hiring priorities.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to attract qualified candidates in competitive labor markets.
  • Source and screen candidates through job boards, referrals, community partnerships, and other recruiting channels.
  • Coordinate interviews, facilitate hiring manager feedback, and maintain consistent candidate communication throughout the hiring process.
  • Support offer preparation, pre-employment requirements, and onboarding coordination in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Maintain accurate applicant records and recruiting activity within the applicant tracking system (ATS).
  • Track recruiting metrics, including time-to-fill, candidate pipeline activity, and hiring progress.
  • Identify opportunities to improve recruiting processes, candidate experience, and hiring efficiency.
  • Partner with Human Resources to support the onboarding process for new hires, including coordinating pre-employment requirements, facilitating onboarding activities, and ensuring a smooth transition from recruitment to employment.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with a strong emphasis on hourly or operational positions.

  • Experience recruiting in manufacturing, industrial operations, skilled trades, energy, or similar environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple open requisitions and competing hiring priorities.

  • Strong sourcing, candidate screening, and relationship-building skills.

  • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems and recruiting platforms.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Ability to collaborate across multiple time zones and accommodate varying schedules to support recruiting needs across MRP's facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience recruiting for unionized workforces or within collective bargaining environments.
  • Familiarity with recruiting maintenance technicians, electricians, mechanics, instrumentation and controls technicians, or other skilled trades.
  • Experience supporting geographically dispersed operations or multi-site organizations.
  • Background in power generation, utilities, or related industries.

Position Details

This is a full-time, temporary position anticipated to last six months. The position will be employed directly by Middle River Power and based in our Chicago office on a hybrid schedule. Extension or conversion to permanent employment may be considered based on business needs, recruiting volume, and individual performance; however, permanent employment is not guaranteed.
