What they need

About Pasha Recycling ServicesPasha Recycling Services is a growing and established recycling and waste management business based in Liverpool.

We are looking for an experienced and hands on Recycling Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day to day running of our site operations and lead our operational team. This is a senior role for someone who has substantial experience within the waste and recycling industry and understands what it takes to run a busy recycling facility safely, efficiently and compliantly. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of up to 5–6 operatives, while also being actively involved in the day to day physical operation of the site.

This is not a purely office based management position, we need someone who is prepared to get stuck in and lead by example. The Role As Recycling Operations Manager, you will oversee the daily operation of the recycling facility, ensuring that materials are received, processed, stored and dispatched safely and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and supervising a team of up to 5–6 site operatives.
  • Taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day operational performance of the site.
  • Being hands on with loading and unloading vehicles and moving materials around the site.
  • Overseeing reprocessing, sorting, baling and preparation of recyclable materials.
  • Operating and overseeing the safe use of site machinery and equipment where required.
  • Ensuring waste is handled, stored and processed in accordance with site procedures and environmental requirements.
  • Ensuring the site is maintained in a clean, safe and organised condition.
  • Planning daily workloads and allocating tasks to operational staff.
  • Monitoring productivity, throughput and operational efficiency.
  • Managing staff performance, attendance, training and development.
  • Leading by example and maintaining high standards of professionalism and work ethic.
  • Ensuring all Health & Safety procedures are followed and actively promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Carrying out and supporting daily site inspections and addressing any issues identified.
  • Working closely with the Compliance function to maintain environmental and regulatory compliance.
  • Supporting audits, inspections and regulatory visits where required.
  • Identifying operational improvements and implementing practical solutions.
  • Ensuring equipment and machinery issues are identified and reported promptly.
  • Working with senior management to improve processes, productivity and profitability.
  • Reporting directly to both Managing Directors on operational performance, staffing, issues and improvements.
  • Taking ownership of operational problems and ensuring corrective actions are followed through to completion.

About You

We are looking for an experienced waste and recycling professional who can demonstrate approximately 10 years' experience within the industry, ideally with significant experience in a supervisory or management position. You will need to be confident managing people, making operational decisions and dealing with the challenges of a busy recycling environment. Essential requirements:

  • Approximately 10 years' experience within the waste and recycling industry.
  • Previous experience managing or supervising a recycling/waste operation.
  • WAMITAB qualification.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety within a waste/recycling environment.
  • Experience of loading, unloading, sorting, processing and baling recyclable materials.
  • Experience managing a small operational team.
  • Strong understanding of site housekeeping and safe working practices.
  • Ability to lead from the front and take a hands-on approach.
  • Good communication and people-management skills.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of operational responsibilities.

Desirable ExperienceThe following would also be advantageous:

  • Experience working within an EA-permitted waste facility.
  • Knowledge of waste legislation and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience with waste transfer documentation and traceability.
  • Experience working with balers, forklifts, Teletruks or other recycling equipment.
  • Experience preparing for or supporting Environment Agency inspections and audits.
  • Experience working within an ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 management system.
  • Previous experience working with operational KPIs and performance targets.

What We Are Looking ForThe successful candidate will be someone who is:

  • Hands-on – willing to work alongside the team rather than simply manage from an office.

  • Safety-focused – understands that Health & Safety comes first.
  • Operationally minded – always looking for ways to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Proactive – identifies problems and takes action rather than waiting for someone else to resolve them.
  • Organised – able to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
  • Responsible and accountable – takes ownership of the site and its performance.
  • Commercially aware – understands the importance of productivity, costs and operational efficiency.
