Referral Coordinator

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for managing patient referrals, ensuring seamless communication between providers, insurance companies, and patients. Your expertise will help facilitate efficient care coordination, verify insurance coverage, and maintain accurate medical records.

Duties

• Processing referrals from provides
• Contacting insurance companies to check benefits and authorization requirements
• Obtaining prior authorizations when needed
• Scheduling appointments with specialists or outside facilities
• Sending medical records, referrals, orders and notes to receiving office
• Following up and tracking on pending referrals and authorizations to avoid delays
• Update patients about their referral status

Requirements

• Proven experience working in a medical office setting with knowledge of health insurance policies and managed care processes..
• Proficiency in medical terminology, medical billing, medical coding (including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and insurance verification procedures.
• Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of health insurance policies, prior authorization processes, and clinical confidentiality policies is highly desirable.

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
